IWKA Martial Arts Children COVID-19 Procedure
Dear Parents/Carer,
With respect to the government guidelines, these are the measures IWKA Martial Arts School will put in place:
1) We insist that if children or anyone living in the same household as a child has symptoms of coronavirus (new and persistent cough; a raised temperature or loss of taste or smell) that the child does not attend the class for 14 days or until there is a negative test confirmation. The rules of self- isolation remain in place.
2) Toilet: We encourage children to use the toilet at home before coming to the class. The toilet still can be used in the hall, but we try to minimise children to use the public toilet during the class.
3) Wash hands: When someone arrives/leaves the building, the sanitiser will be provided by the side of the entrance. Children will wash their hands with soap and water on entering martial arts class, on leaving class and regularly during the allocated session.
Wash hands thoroughly for 20 seconds with running water and soap and dry them thoroughly or use alcohol hand rub or sanitiser ensuring that all parts of the hands are covered.
4) We will encourage all children to cough, sneeze into their arms and wipe their noses themselves using a ‘catch it; bin it; kill it’ approach.
5) To minimise contact and mixing, we have decided 1 group of 10 to 20 students in one class depends on the hall size (following current Government guidelines).
6) Cleaning touched surfaces, such as martial arts equipment, chairs and door handles, using standard products, such as detergents and bleach before and after each class and when leaving.
7) All the doors will be open to avoid touching the door handles.
8) Minimising contact with individuals who are unwell by ensuring that those who have coronavirus symptoms, or who have someone in their household who does, Do Not attend martial arts class.
9) Minimising contact and mixing by altering, as much as possible, the environment (such as class layout, 2 metres distance individually) and timetables (in between 2 classes times, 2nd class children wait outside till 1st class children clear out). where possible, we will have one-way system flow means children will come in (Drop off) from one side entrance and leave (Pick up) from the other exit door.
10) All the doors will be open to ensure fresh air in the hall.
11) Instructors will contact with children with social distancing. Children have no contact with other children.
12) We shall be using rubber markers on the floor for our students to stand on for 2m social distancing.
Drop off and collection arrangements
1) Only one parent/carer should drop off or collect their child.
2) Parents bringing the children will be encouraged to wait outside. Unless their child needs their parent to be in the room. Only one parent per child. Chairs will be 2 meters apart for a parent to sit on.
3) When waiting to enter the class we ensure that parents and children form a queue at the entrance. It must maintain 2 meters apart when waiting to be in/out of the class.
4) When leaving we will wipe down the door handles, light switches, chairs and anywhere else which have been touched.
Other arrangements/considerations
1) We IWKA introduce a Covid-19 consent form for parents/carers to fill in. Fill in online or return consent form before attending the class. Please ensure that if you have changed your mobile number you provide us with the updated information. It is important that we can contact you quickly.
2) We advise that following a martial arts session you should wash your child’s clothing.
3) If your child becomes unwell in the class with a new, continuous cough and/or a high-temperature parent will be contacted to collect the child immediately. If this occurs the child will be isolated in a room with a member of the instructor wearing PPE. If a child or member of the instructor test positive to coronavirus all members of that group children and instructors will be sent home and advised to self-isolate for 14 days.
4) Government advice is if a child lives with someone who is clinically vulnerable (but not clinically extremely vulnerable), including those who are pregnant, they can attend martial arts class. If a child lives in a household with someone who is extremely clinically vulnerable, (please check government website, set out in the COVID-19: guidance on shielding and protecting people defined on medical grounds as extremely vulnerable guidance), as we cannot 100% guarantee social distance, they are not expected to attend class.
The above arrangements will be put in place to protect children, their families and instructors from the transmission of coronavirus. If you have any questions regarding the above information, please email info@startmartialarts.co.uk or phone 0780 983 9527.
