The Wing Chun Alliance:
A Complete Path from Student to Master with Sifu Chris
The Wing Chun Alliance is more than just a martial arts organisation—it’s a dedicated community built on tradition, discipline, and practical self-defence. Headed by the highly respected Sifu Chris, the Alliance offers a comprehensive training programme that guides students from their very first steps in martial arts all the way to mastery of the Wing Chun system.
With training centres across Hemel Hempstead, Watford, Slough, and Maidenhead, the Wing Chun Alliance is known for producing technically sound, confident, and capable martial artists. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced fighter seeking to deepen your knowledge, Sifu Chris provides a progressive and structured syllabus tailored to all levels.
From Foundation to Mastery
Sifu Chris brings over 23 years of martial arts experience and 15 years of teaching to his students, offering an authentic and well-rounded Wing Chun education. Students begin their journey at Student Grade 1, focusing on the core principles of balance, coordination, and correct structure. As they progress, they move through a carefully graded syllabus designed to build both physical skill and mental discipline.
Training includes:
Discover The Wing Chun Treasures
Punching & Kicking
Students learn Wing Chun’s signature straight-line punching and low, efficient kicking techniques designed for close-range combat. Drills focus on timing, speed, accuracy, and power.
Self-Defence Technique
From defending against common street attacks to dealing with grabs, holds, and weapons, Sifu Chris ensures his students are equipped with effective, real-world self-defence strategies.
Forms & Application
All students learn the three empty-hand forms—Siu Nim Tao, Chum Kiu, and Biu Jee—which contain the essence of Wing Chun. Each form is broken down into practical applications, building a deep understanding of movement and intention.
Chi Sao (Sticking Hands)
Chi Sao is a cornerstone of Wing Chun training. Students practice energy sensitivity, reflexes, and structure through rolling drills and free-flow exchanges. Sifu Chris teaches the Chi Sao Sections in detail, guiding students through the traditional two-arm drills, counters, and flow transitions that form the basis of advanced combat understanding.
Wooden Dummy Training
The legendary Muk Yan Jong (Wooden Dummy) is a key part of the Wing Chun system. Sifu Chris teaches the full Wooden Dummy form and its applications, helping students refine angles, footwork, and technique against a non-cooperative opponent.

Weapons Training
Long Pole & Butterfly Knives
For advanced students, the Wing Chun Alliance offers traditional weapons training. These ancient tools are not only powerful combat systems but also refine coordination, structure, and internal energy.
Luk Dim Boon Gwan (Six-and-a-Half Point Pole)
The Long Pole, or Luk Dim Boon Gwan, is a hallmark of advanced Wing Chun. Its focus on power generation, structure, and range builds incredible upper body strength, rooted stances, and explosive short-range power. Training with the Long Pole enhances every aspect of a student’s empty-hand technique and instills the ability to generate “grounded force”—power that comes from proper alignment and body mechanics.
Student Learn:
- Pole-specific stances and grips
- Energy and force projection through the pole
- The traditional six-and-a-half-point form
- Combat applications for pole fighting
- How to integrate pole principles into empty-hand techniques
Bart Cham Dao (Butterfly Knives)
In the final stages of the system, students are introduced to the Bart Cham Dao, Wing Chun’s double short swords. These teach advanced angles, timing, and aggressive forward energy, enhancing the practitioner’s reflexes and combat efficiency.
Advanced Internal Development
Wing Chun is as much an internal art as it is an external one. Sifu Chris places a strong emphasis on internal training, which becomes especially apparent in advanced stages like the Long Pole and Biu Jee practice.
Students engage in:
- Fa Jing (explosive power) development
- Breath control and energy flow
- Body alignment and structure testing
- Mindful movement and meditative training
- Internal mechanics for generating effortless power
The Long Pole, in particular, acts as a bridge between the internal and external elements of Wing Chun—teaching students how to connect their breath, body, and intent into a single unit of controlled force.
